How to Use The Mockup Engine

Setup guide for automating your Etsy workflow.

1. Installation & Setup

The Mockup Engine runs directly within Adobe Photoshop. There is no complex installation required, but the folder structure is critical.

  1. Unzip the Package: Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a safe location (e.g., your Desktop or Documents).
  2. Don't Rename Folders: You will see a main folder containing subfolders like input, mockups, ratio-templates, and script. Do not rename or move these subfolders, as the script relies on them to find your files.

2. Preparing Your Files

Before running the script, you need to feed the engine:

  • input Folder: Place your transparent PNG or high-res JPG designs here (e.g., "WallArt_01.png").
  • mockups Folder: Place your .psd mockup files here. You can organize them into subfolders (e.g., "Living Room", "Nursery").
  • ratio-templates Folder: Place your resizing templates here (e.g., "ISO.psd", "4x5.psd").

⚠️ CRITICAL STEP: Smart Object Naming For the script to work, it needs to know where to paste your design.

  1. Open your mockup PSDs.
  2. Find the Smart Object layer where the design goes.
  3. Rename that layer to YOUR_DESIGN (You can also change this name in the script menu if needed).

3. Running the Engine

  1. Open Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Go to File > Scripts > Browse...
  3. Navigate to your TheMockupEngine/script folder and select TheMockupEngine.jsx.
  4. The Control Panel will appear.

4. The Control Panel

The script automatically scans your folders and shows a menu:

  • Input Files: Check the designs you want to process.
  • Mockup Styles: Select which mockup scenes to use.
  • Aspect Ratios: Select which size templates to generate.
  • Smart Object Layer: Default is YOUR_DESIGN.

Click PROCESS FILES and watch the magic happen! 🚀

5. Output

Once finished, go to the output folder. You will find organized folders for each design containing your ready-to-upload listing images.
